FOURNIER, Georges (1595-1652) - Traicte des fortifications. [Paris: Henault, 1667?].   A collection of plates from the work dedicated to the conception, realization and elaboration of the fortifications. The plates depict plans, elevations or views of existing strongholds, but also plans and details of defensive works.   Plate volume only, 12mo (115 x 75mm). 111 engraved and numbered plates including two titles (plate 5 torn, B4 and G6 with a tear touching the engraving and not touching it in D5, some stains and browning). Contemporary vellum, spine with 4 raised bands, speckled edges (restorations on the endpapers, some stains, slight losses on spine). Provenance: "questo libretto è del Vic. Lino? Cavalcante.." (ownership inscription on the front endpaper); Gonvy Gaum..? (ownership inscription on title). The work is sold as described and not subject to return.
