[PESTE] - ROSSI, Gregorio (XVII sec.) - De postrema pestilentia urbis Romae. Rome: Vitalis Mascardus, 1665.   An interesting work describing both the unfolding of the plague in Rome and the methods of treatment provided by doctors and the measures to contain the epidemic. The author, a doctor who evidently enjoyed a good name, had been entrusted with the care and responsibility of that part of Rome including the Vatican, the Gianicolo and Trastevere.   12mo (143 x 79mm). Printer's device on title, woodcut initials, headers and decorations (non-invasive reinforcements to the inner margin of title, A4 with small marginal restorations, gatherings C and D reversed, foxing and browning). Contemporary marbled paper, in a red cloth slipcase (some wear, slight losses at the edges). Provenance: Vincentius Colonna (stamp on title) - few contemporary annotations.
