WINSLOW, Jacques Bénigne (1669-1760) - Esposizione anatomica della struttura del corpo umano. Venice: Tommaso Bettinelli, 1747.   First Venetian edition of the "Exposition anatomique de la structure du corps humain". It is the first essay on descriptive anatomy, originally published in Paris in 1732 and later translated into various languages. Curiously the printer omitted to print the text on a few leaves.   2 volumes, 4to (225 x 170mm). Title of the first volume in red and black, engraved vignette on titles, woodcut initials and head-and-tail pieces, 16 engraved plates (the text hasn't been printed on the verso of Q and Q7 and on the recto of Q2 and Q8, wormtracks from X8 to 2A8 occasionally touching the text and sometimes compromising its legibility, tear to plate VII, some marginal paperflaw occasionally touching text without compromising its legibility, some foxing and browning). Contemporary vellum, gilt titles on spine labels and gilt decorations on spine (spine slightly darkened and with some losses, extremities rubbed). Provenance: early erased ownership inscriptions on endpapers - Congreg. Min. Conv. S. F. Lomb. Aust. (stamp on title's verso). (2)
