[GUILLARD, Charlotte (m. 1557) - HOLBEIN, Hans (m. 1543) e REGNAULT Pierre (1490-1561), illustratori] - Biblia Sacra iuxta vulgatam [..] illustrata. Paris: Carolam Guillard et Gulielmum Desboys, 1552.   Second edition of the Bible published by Desboys in collaboration with Charlotte Guillard; the first edition was published in 1549 by Desboys alone and was not illustrated. Guillard was director of the Soleil d'Or printing house, one of the first female printers in the world and the first to have a thriving career as an entrepreneur. The engravings for the Old Testament are the renowned ones made by Holbein for Trechsel in 1538, while the many illustrations of the New Testament were done by Rengnault.   4to (260 x 195mm). Numerous woodcut illustrations and initials (two traces of sealing wax on title, one of which causing a small hole, browning, occasional foxing and staining). Contemporary vellum with spine in 7 compartments, manuscript title on spine (modern endpapers, slight wear and tiny stains, small wormhole at the back cover). Provenance: early ownership inscription deleted on title and two sealing wax marks - some early annotations.
