APPIANO, Alessandrino (n. 95 d. C. ca) - Delle guerre esterne de romani tradotto da m. Alessandro Braccio. Venice: Pietro di Nicolini da Sabbio, 1538. Translation into vernacular of the "Guerre esterne" by Braccesi, renowned humanist and diplomat. In the interesting dedication to Giovampaolo Orsini he justifies his effort with the "fructo e diletto" that even those who do not know classical languages can derive from reading history (DBI, 1971). 8vo (146 x 95mm). Title within woodcut border (without final blank, some staining and light foxing). Later vellum with manuscript title on spine, blue edges, decorated endpapers (lightly bowed, light wear). Provenance: few contemporary annotations.
