CAMINER, Domenico (1731-1796) - Storia della guerra presente tra la Russia e la porta ottomana. Venice: Antonio Graziosi, 1770.   An interesting work, rare on the market, dedicated to the war against the Turks. The author, journalist and famous writer, took on the task of compiling the "Storia dell'anno" starting from 1774. "The vocation of political chronicler and contemporary historian is thus clearly manifested" (Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani - Volume 17, 1974) as it is also clearly evident in the present work.   12 tomes in 4 volumes, 8vo (185 x 127mm). Engraved titles for each tome, woodcut initials and decorations, 21 engraved plates of which 8 folding (first gathering of volume VII collated A6 instead of A8 as in SBN but the text apparently complete, in some titles the number indicating the tome is manuscripted, some light waterstainig and foxing, light staining). Contemporary boards, spine in decorated paper, manuscript title on spine and front plate of the first volume, speckled edges (spines slightly darkned, light wear). The number of plates may vary, therefore the lot is sold as described and not subject to return. (4)
