The work is divided into eight books: the first four narrate the events of the city up to 1400, a period of great prosperity for the city, while the final four describe less happy events. Towards the end of the eighth book there is also a mention to the "Glory of Christopher Columbus".   4to (195 x 145mm). Engraved title, printer's device at the end, woodcut initials (title reinforced on verso, small wormholes to internal margin of first leaves, A4 with reinforcement to internal margin, waterstaining, occasional staining, some foxing and browning). Later vellum, gilt title on spine label (some small wormholes, light losses on spine and rear plate). Provenance: Novacco (bookplate on front endpaper).
