Venice: Bernardino Bindoni, 1539.   A 16th-century edition of Juvenal's work accompanied by fine woodcut illustrations.   Folio (305 x 215mm). Title in red and black within an elaborate woodcut border, woodcut initials and illustrations (tiny hole caused by ink on title and in correspondence with a stain on final leaf, waterstaining, some marginal wormtracks and light browning). Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine (wear and losses especially on spine, front plate almost detached). Provenance: Cosmi Casarei (contemporary ownership inscription on front endpaper and title) - some contemporary annotations - Avv. Enrico Ricci (stamp on title and on verso).
