[MILANO] - SANT’AMBROGIO (340-397) - Divi Ambrosii Episcopi Mediolanensis officiorum libri tres. Colony: Ioannes Gymnicus, 1529.   A difficult work to find on the market of the De officiis ministrorum by Sant'Ambrogio, a value and behavioral guide for the members of the clergy but also for the entire Christian community. The author is inspired by Cicero's De officiis from which he takes arguments and terminology, modeling Stoic morality in the light of Christian ethics.   8vo (145 x 95mm). Printer's device on title, woodcut initials (wormtrack on the inner margin of gatherings F-H and N-P lightly touching text at G1-G4 and N7-8, browning, tiny stains, occasional light waterstains on the margins). 19th-century binding with calf spine, gilt decorations and title on spine, speckled edges (some chipping on spine). Provenance: some early underlining.
