PRUDENZIO, Aurelio Clemente (348-413) - Prudentius. Prosper. Ioannes Damascenus. Cosmus Hierosolymitanus Marcus episcopus Talvontis. Theophanes. [Lyon: Baldassarre Gabiano, ca. 1503].   A curious contemporary Lyonnais counterfeit edition of the first volume of the "Poetae Christiani veteres" printed by Aldo Manutius in 1501, published in Lyon by Baldassarre Gabiano. Aldo defended himself against the Lyonnais counterfeits with a "Monitum" published in 1503, which however did not have the desired effect.   8vo (162 x 100mm). (Without final blank, small wormtrack restored to first three leaves with loss of a few letters, light browning). Modern cloth with percaline spine, gilt decorations and title on spine (light rubbing and tiny stains).
