Venice: Giovanni Tacuino, 1541.   A large format 16th-century edition of the De Catilinae coniuratione and the Bellum Iugurthinum, illustrated by expressive woodcuts. The commentary on the text is also very rich with contributions by Lorenzo Valla (1407-1457) and Pomponio Leto (1428-1498).   Folio (311 x 210mm). Title within woodcut border printed in red and black, woodcut initials and vignettes (small restoration to outer margin of title, wormtracks to upper margin of B-E, marginal restorations at O8, lower corner of the final three gatherings with small restorations, waterstain to outer margin from gathering N, browning). Contemporary vellum, modern manuscript title on spine, modern laces (rebacked, new endpapers, some wear, restorations, stains).
