Sebastiano Venier, after a brilliant military career and having contributed to the victory of the Holy League in Lepanto, was elected Doge of Venice in 1577 and contributed with the present work to the rich trend of treatises dedicated to the nobility of the perfect leader.   4to (212 x 143mm). Printer's device on title, title within a woodcut frame, woodcut headpieces and initials (browning, light waterstain throughout, some faded words at G2r traced in pen). Later vellum, manuscript title on spine, blue edges (little stains).
