LATTANZIO, Lucio Cecilio Firmiano (250-325) - Quae in hoc opere contineantur [..]. Florence: Filippo Giunta, 1513.   A splendid copy adorned with contemporary hand-coloured initials of this post-incunabulum by Lactantius. The volume includes the author's main philosophical works, "De ira Dei", against the thesis of divine impassibility supported by the Stoics, "De opificio Dei", treatise on divine Providence and "De divinis institutionibus", his most famous work and summary of Christian teaching. The final leaves also contain two short poems by the author, "De phoenice" and "De Dominica resurrectione".   8vo (162 x 95mm). Title within an elaborate woodcut border with phytomorphic motifs, cherubs and dolphins, contemporary paragraph symbols added by hand and hand-coloured initials in red and blue, ruling on all leaves (light browning, occasional soiling). Contemporary calf, blindstamped fillets and lily on covers, later red edges and endpapers (rebacked preserving original spine, without laces, rubbing at joints and extremities).
