Venice: Giunti, 1641.   An interesting collection of treatises on military art, introduced by the preface of Bernardo Giunti. Among the authors, all noble men of arms with great experience, Lelio Brancaccio (1560-1637), Ludovico Melzi (1594-1649), Giorgio Basta (1544-1607), Fabio Gallo da Osimo (d. 1615) and Pietro Sardi with "Il capo de' bombardieri". Brancaccio's exposition is illustrated by 5 fine engravings, while Gallo's "Regole de' squadroni di fanterie" presents an interesting graphic rendering created through the creative use of typographical devices.   4to (220 x 155mm). Engraved title, woodcut headpieces and initials, 5 engraved plates, a full-page woodcut illustration, collation in variant B of SBN (restoration to the lower corner of 2F7 and 2X1, browned, waterstaining). Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine (light rubbing, especially on spine ends).
