Amberg: Johannes Schönfeld, 1619.   First edition of this curious illustrated monograph entirely dedicated to hares which collects quotations and historical, literary, zoological, medical and gastronomic investigations. The author was a physician and naturalist as well as a professor at the Altdorf chair of medicine from 1592.   4to (205 x 155mm). Woodcut decorations on title printed within elegant border, woodcut illustrations and initials (browned). Modern vellum, gilt title on spine (very light rubbing, faded title). It was not possible to find a collation, our copy is as follow: A⁴-M⁴. Provenance: contemporary annotation on title.
