Each volume features 25 artists who had an impact in Italy, with a portrait and a eulogy. The printing houses over the years vary from Cambiagi to Bastianelli, Allegrini, and Pisoni, and the portraits are engraved by various authors, mostly by Giovanni Battista Cecchi from Florence.   12 tomes in 6 volumes, 4to (283 x 210mm). Half-titles, engraved frontispiece at the beginning of first volume, woodcut decoration on titles and woodcut tailpieces, 300 engraved plates (title of the third volume almost detached, some marginal waterstaining, some light staining and foxing).
