[Ginevra: Cramer?], 1766.   A very rare edition on the market, in twenty cantos, with the addition of "Variants" to the cantos in separate pagination. This copy includes the "Préface de Don Apuleius Risorius, bénédictin" that Voltaire composed for the 1762 edition and a "Notice to the reader" that provides page references to locate the variants. The plates are those of the "suite anglaise" engraved by Drake, as indicated on the frontispiece, based on Gravelot's drawings.   2 parts in one volume, 8vo (122 x 90mm). Half-title, engraved frontispiece, woodcut decoration on title, woodcut headpieces and decorations, 26 engraved plates (paperflaw on half-title, some leaves slightly cropped, some light foxing). Contemporary mottled calf, title on label and gilt decorations on spine, red edges, marbled endpapers (stains and some losses to front endpapers, some wear, especially on spine and joints). It was not possible to find a collation; our copy is collated as follows: *8, **4, A-T8 (first part); A-F8, G4 (second part). Provenance: Giannino Fava (bookplate to front endpaper).
