VOLTAIRE (1694-1778) - La Henriade. London: s.n., 1728.   A genuine example of this first illustrated edition, in which the title "La Henriade" appears for the first time. This is the edition corrected and revised by Voltaire after the original of 1723 and which, according to Le Petit (p. 535) is the "première vraiment authentique" given the correctness of the text.   4to (280 x 215mm). Engraved frontispiece, title with engraved vignette, fine head-and-tail pieces, 10 engraved plates (inner margin of title and final leaf reinforced with some staining, a few small ink stains to first leaves, some foxing and browning). Contemporary calf signed P. Luichon, title on label and gilt decorations on spine, covers and dentelles, red edges, marbled endpapers (slight losses on front cover and upper joint, light wear). SBN offers a series of differente collations; the copy corresponds to the digital one in BNF. Provenance: Camille Journy (ownership inscription on frontispiece verso).
