After a first chapter dedicated to a general look at Syria, the work focuses on the patriarchal churches of Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria and Constantinople. The territories of the first three patriarchates are depicted in the plates, while unfortunately the plate dedicated to Constantinople is missing.   Folio (315 x 210mm). Engraved frontispiece, woodcut device on title, woodcut headpieces and initials, 3 (of 4) folding engraved plates (small restoration on the verso of the frontispiece and first three pages, restoration on the lower margin of title, wormholes to lower margin of the first leaves, plate of Alessandria lightly cropped, marginal waterstaining, browning, small wormtrack to inner margin of 2Q-2Y not touching text, wormtrack restored to lower margin of K-M not touching text). 18th-century vellum, gilt decorations and title on spine, red edges (tiny wormholes).
