PALLADIO, Andrea (1508-1580) - I Quattro Libri dell'Architettura. Venice: Bartolomeo Carampello, 1616.   A good copy of the most studied architectural treatise of the Renaissance, which indicates systematic rules for construction and numerous examples of projects. The treatise had considerable success and inspired the work of a large number of architects throughout the 19th century. It is considered the most influential architectural publication ever produced and determined much of the architectural image of Western civilization.   4 parts in one volume, folio (320 x 210mm). Titles within an elaborate woodcut border, woodcut initials and illustrations (illustration on p. 109 of the fourth part with some early ink additions, some light staining and marginal waterstaining). Contemporary calf, title on label and gilt decorations on spine, double gilt fillet on covers, speckled edges (rebacked preserving old spine, corners restored, light wear, slight losses). Provenance: Juvenel? (ownership inscription on title) - Bibliothèque F. Renard (exlibris on front endpaper) - John de Zulueta (exlibris on front endpaper).
