Lisbon: Impressão regia, 1775.   An excellent copy in fine binding with Portuguese cardinal arms of this fascinating bibliographical source dedicated to the manuscripts of the Alcobaça Library. Many of these manuscripts date back to the medieval period and were beautifully illuminated, produced by the renowned Alcobacian school. At the end of the work, two plates, depicting the first leaves of two codexes, provide an example of the elements taken into consideration for the cataloguing.   4to (290 x 210mm). Woodcut coat of arms of the kingdom of Portugal on title, woodcut headpieces and initials, 2 engraved plates printed in red and black. Contemporary red morocco, gilt floral frame and Portuguese cardinal's arms on covers, gilt decorations and title on spine, blindstamped and gilt edges, marbled endpapers (scratches to back cover, tiny wormholes to lower spine end).
