Particularly fascinating are the parts dedicated to the South American electric eel, to a universal antidote against viper venom and to spider silk, richly depicted in the plates.   5 volumes, 4to (260 x 205mm). Half-titles, woodcut device on title, woodcut headpieces, 11 engraved plates in first volume, 5 in the fourth of which one is a folding map of Paraguay, one in the fifth (occasional browning and foxing). Contemporary marbled boards, manuscript title on spine labels, partially uncut, speckled edges (rubbing and chipping to spines and joints). The fifth volume corresponds to the digitized copy of the Cremona State Library with one plate, but SBN refers to a second plate. The work is not present in BHL. (5)
