FREGOSO, Antonio (1444-1530) - Opera nuova [..] la qual tratta de doi philosophi, cioè de Democrito che rideva di questo mondo, et Heraclito che piangeva de le miserie humane. Venice: Agostino Bindoni, 1542.   An interesting short poem by Fregoso in small format, which presents the opposing thoughts of Heraclitus and Demosthenes regarding the human condition. The two philosophers are portrayed in the delightful woodcut on title.   8vo (147 x 95mm). Woodcut vignette on title, woodcut initials (small restoration to upper margin of A5, small wormtracks to lower margin, restored from gathering E, light waterstain to lower margin of gathering E, browning, foxing). Modern binding with vellum spine, gilt title on spine label.
