[BINDING] - L'office de la semaine saincte. Paris: Charles Fosset, Denis Chenault, [ca. 1694].   An elegant 17th-century à la fanfare binding, sumptuously crafted with pointillés irons to obtain a splendid effect.   8vo (196 x 125mm). Engraved frontispiece and title with the arms of King Louis XIV and Queen Maria Theresa, 3 engraved plates, woodcut headpieces and initials (light browning). Red morocco with rich gilt decorations on plates and spine with lilies of France, gilt decorations on dentelles, marbled endpapers (very light rubbing at extremities and joints). It was not possible to find a collation, our copy is as follows: a2, A-Z8, 2A-2I8, 2K2. Provenance: "En souvenir de Madame Clerbette. 27 Fevrier 1795 - 9 Fevrier 1884" (manuscript annotation on endpaper) - traces of modern bookplate on endpaper.
