This is the illustrated edition in Italian of Ariosto's epic poem, born through the collaboration between the Molini brothers, Parisian publishers, the printer John Baskerville in England, and numerous skilled artists and engravers from London and Paris.   4 volumes , 8vo grande (234 x 135mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait of the author by Fiquet after Eisen and 46 engraved plates by Bartolozzi and others after Cipriani, Cochin, Eisen, Monnet, Jean-Michel Moreau the younger and others (some browning and staining, without final blanks). Red morocco with the arms of Francis Palmer engraved in gilt on covers within an elaborate gilt border, spines decorated in gilt with title on morocco label, gilt edges and dentelles, marbled endpapers (extremities lightly rubbed).
