Delatour, 1760.   Second illustrated edition of the navigation treatise by the geophysicist Bouguer, published in 1753 and here for the first time edited by the famous astronomer Abbot Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille (1713-1765), who reduced the work to make it more easily usable by pilots and not just by scholars. The engraved folding plates depict nautical charts, celestial vaults and navigation instruments. The work is complete with the final pages of logarithms.   4to (200 x 125mm). Half-title, woodcut device on title, woodcut headpieces, 13 folding engraved plates (browning, occasional foxing). Contemporary mottled calf, gilt decorations and title on spine, red edges, marbled endpapers (light rubbing to spine ends and joints, some scratches and minor stains, light restoration on front cover).
