PROSPERO, Alpino (1553-1616) - De plantis Aegypti liber - De plantis Aegyptiis observationes et notae - De balsamo dialogus. Padua: Paolo Frambotto, 1640-39-38.   An interesting volume dedicated to Egyptian flora and written by the Venetian botanist and scientist Prospero Alpini. Numerous types of plants personally observed by the author are described and illustrated, among which also coffee, banana, tamarind and baobab.   3 parts in one volume, 4to (225 x 160mm). Printer's device on each title, numerous full-page botanical woodcut illustrations (second part lacking A2-A3 corresponding to two index leaves, third part lacking final gathering A2 with two index leaves, light dampstaing throughout, some other occasional stains). Later quarter vellum over decorated paper, title on red spine label, red speckled edges (minimal stains). Provenance: Ps n.103 (early annotation on first title) - halo of removed stamp on first title and circular stamp just visible under a paper repair in A4 of the third part.
