MORANDI, Giovanni Battista (fl. 1761) - Historia botanica practica. Milan: Pietro Francesco Malatesta, 1744.   First edition of this iconographic work dedicated to medicinal plants. The work is illustrated by 544 engravings on 68 plates, drawn and engraved by Morandi himself.   Folio (420 x 267mm). Engraved frontispiece, red and black title with printer's device, woodcut headpieces and fine engraved and woodcut initials, woodcut decorations and tail pieces, 68 numbered engraved plates (wormtrack restored at frontispiece continuing on following leaf, some light staining on title, K4 with a restored tear touching a few letters, very slight foxing and waterstaining). Modern calf, spine with gilt decorations which partially recovers the original binding (very light scuffing). Provenance: Duplum Bibliothecae V. E. (duplicate stamp on title) - Vittorio Arioli (exlibris to front endpaper).
