OVIDIO, Publio Nasone (43 a.C. - 17 o 18 d.C.) - Epistole Heroides. Venice: Bartolomeo Zani, 1507.   An edition rare on the market and beautifully illustrated of Ovid's Heroides, with commentary by Antonio Volsco and Ubertino da Crescentino. The work presents delightful woodcut illustrations depicting the mythical events of the heroines and their lovers, recipients of the epistles.   Folio (313 x 206mm). Woodcut illustration on title, woodcut initials, decorations and illustrations (some restorations touching some letters replaced in ink mostly corresponding to wormtracks, occasional marginal wormtracks, some light staining, browning and foxing). Later vellum, manuscript title spine (light wear). Provenance: a lion within arms on a3.
